-
With the opening of Disneyland in 1955, only two stations existed, Main Street
Station and Frontierland Station. Engine No. 1, styled after the wood-burning
locomotives of the 1880's would only call at Frontierland, providing a complete
non-stop circle around the Magic Kingdom.
-
The C.K. Holliday was modeled after Walt Disney's own miniature backyard
steam engine the Lilly Belle. The C.K. Holliday, the very first train engine
created for a Disney Theme Park, cleared the tracks for future railroads
at The Magic Kingdom and Disney's Animal Kingdom at the Walt Disney World
Resort in Florida, Tokyo Disneyland in Japan and Disneyland Paris in France.
-
Named after Cyrus Kurtz Holliday (1826 - 1900), he was the Founder of the
Atchison & Topeka Railroad in 1859.
