First big retirement in 1999 happened at the 1st Annual WDCC Convention held March 19-21, 1999.
"The Little Mermaid" On Friday, March 19th, ten (10) pieces were retired from "The Little Mermaid" plus the Enchanted Places Grotto and Ariel miniature; the Opening Title was NOT.
Also retired was the White Rabbit House and White Rabbit Miniature from "Alice in Wonderland" during the banquet held on Saturday, March 20th. The retirement was announced by Kathryn Beaumont, the voice of 'Alice' and 'Wendy' from "Peter Pan". |

"101 Dalmations" Hot News from the Twilight Bark! Where did all those puppies go? Yes, it's true, the entire scene of "101 Dalmatians" (except for the opening title) was retired in a surprise announcement during Mr. Toad's Enchanted Evening at Disneyland on October 28, 1999. The pieces honored with retirement include: Pongo, Perdita, Lucky with Television, Rolly, Puppies on Newspaper and Cruella's Car. (The Cruella's Car ornament was retired in July with six other Christmas ornaments - see above). |
